Welcome
Hello, My name is Glyn Norris and I’d like to tell you a little bit about me.
I consider myself very lucky to have experienced the things I have over the years, from leaving school I’d always wanted to travel, unfortunately, at that time there were no Travel and Tourism courses or NVQ qualifications, it was simple, work in a travel agency, I worked for a family business called Travelcraft Limited based in Chingford. I started as Junior Consultant and worked my way up to Business House Manager and eventually Branch Manager, I worked for the company for 10years until I was ready to travel.
I left the company to work overseas with a holiday company called Twenty’s which catered for the 18 to 30 age group, after one season I came back to the UK at the companies request and headed up an Agency Support team for Independent travel agencies where my previous 10years of travel experience came in very handy.
I then had the opportunity to work for a company not connected to travel but entertainment, having been a dancer/dance teacher during my travel agency days I’d always wanted to run an entertainment complex and I became Family Leisure Manager for Fairlop Waters in Hainault Essex, I remained there for 2 years before leaving to work as Entertainment Manager for their sister company in Liverpool called Pleasure Island where I stayed another 2 years.
After finishing in Liverpool I was fortunate to be invited to an interview to work overseas again for the then Thomson Holidays, I got the job and worked as Entertainment Manager in a Family Hotel for the next 20 years, very happy memories, I then returned home due to Thomson being taken over by TUI and things became very different, no regrets and it was time to move on.
After returning home, which didn’t last long, I came upon the opportunity to work for P&O Cruises (Carnival UK) and I was off again, but this time on the sea and what an adventure! sailing around the Mediterranean, Atlantic and the Caribbean.
My achievements during the last 45 years have been, Professional Dance Teacher, 4th place in the World Couple Disco Championships in Stuttgart Germany, TV appearances on Come Dancing, Blind Date, Barrymore, Love at First Sight to name a few, choreographer for musical theatre, lead rolls in many shows but my biggest role so far… Santa! doorstepsanta.me
However, with all the above there has always been an overwhelming love for the MOVIES! in 2018 I was fortunate enough to work for a company that provided Tour Managers for Park Dean Holidays to run outdoor movie nights for their guests, this was a fabulous opportunity to learn about the outdoor cinema market, I continued to show movies to hundreds of people for the next 4 years.
I then decided to invest in my own equipment from screens, projection, PA equipment etc, after a few experimental evenings I came up with Flix with Friends private bespoke evenings with family and friends watching a great movie under the stars.
I hope this has given you some idea of my character and my love for entertaining people and putting smiles on faces,
